Itchy feet series, 2001

This series explores the imagery from a nighttime dream about following one’s heart and using Malawi cedar to cure the “itchy foot” disease. Only after waking did I learn that the Malawi cedar is an endangered tree in the African country of Malawi.

The motifs of feet and cedar are developed in hand-dyed fabrics, layered, stamped, and stitched into abstract compositions for the wall.

Format: All are hung as is traditional for artquilts, from a solid rod inside a backing sleeve. See Choosing Art for care of this art style.
